WHAT WE BELIEVE

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

The Church of the Nazarene is a middle of the road evangelical church. We are Wesleyan in our doctrine. We believe it is necessary to find a personal relationship with God (salvation). We believe it is essential to pursue Spirit-filled living (entire sanctification).

We base our beliefs and ministry on the Bible, the Inspired Word of God. We practice unconditional love for every member of the family of God.

STATEMENT OF BELIEFS

Agreed Statement of Belief of the Church of the Nazarene

*We believe in one God-- the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

*We believe that both the Old and New Testament Scriptures are fully inspired by God and contain all truth necessary for salvation and right living.

*We believe that all people are born with a fallen nature from which they are unable to free themselves, compelling them to make self-serving, sinful choices.

*We believe those who die in their sin, unrepentant, are hopelessly and eternally lost.

*We believe that salvation through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whoever confesses their sin and believes that God raised Jesus from the dead will be set free from their fallen nature and the control and punishment of sin.

*We believe that believers are called beyond initial salvation, to a place of total surrender to Jesus in word, thought, and action.  This is called “entire sanctification.”

*We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to a believer’s initial salvation, as well as their entire sanctification.

*We believe that one day Jesus will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
